Welcome. This is an interim note about arrival of this blog. After much intense thought and gestation, the time is right to discuss and share views, knowledge and ideas about the role of design and innovation in achieving a sustainable future. In part, the blog will focus on real-world ecodesign activity, business solutions and noteworthy examples. There will inevitably be some commentary on the role of government policy and programs in supporting and enabling more effective product sustainability outcomes. Also expect some comment on how some policy-makers specialise in blocking intelligent proposals to achieving a sustainable future. Ha! Most of all, it’s about some non-nonsense discussion and ideas that will strive to move beyond the easy-speak rhetoric that often surrounds ecodesign, eco-innovation, life cycle thinking, producer responsibility and product stewardship.

Stay tuned … John Gertsakis
